Patterns / Poomse
Patterns, or Poomses in the Korean language, are a series of defending and attacking movements performed against imaginary opponents in a set pattern. Through the practice of forms, students come to learn the applications of various techniques of Taekwondo. Forms serve a multi-dimensional role, aiding in development and refinement of coordination, balance, timing, breath control and rhythm, all of which are essential skills to the Taekwondo student.

pattern 3
1. turn 90° left, moving the left foot into a walking stance left arm low block
2. right leg front kick step down with the right leg into a forward stance double middle punch, right hand first
3. turn 180° right, moving the right foot into a walking stance right arm low block
4. left leg front kick step down with the left leg into a forward stance double middle punch, left hand first
5. turn 90° left, moving the left foot into a left walking stance right hand inner knife-hand strike
6. step forward, moving the right foot into a walking stance left hand inner knife-hand strike
7. turn 90° left, moving the left foot into a back stance left arm knife-hand block
8. step forward, moving the left foot into a forward stance right hand middle punch
9. turn 180° right, moving the right foot into a back stance right arm knife-hand block
10 step forward, moving the right foot into a forward stance left hand middle punch
11. turn 90° left, moving the left foot into a walking stance right arm inner block
12. step forward, moving the right foot into a walking stance left arm inner block
13. turn 270° left, moving the left foot into a walking stance left arm low block
14. right leg front kick step down with the right leg into a forward stance double middle punch, right hand first
15. turn 180° right, moving the right foot into a walking stance right arm low block
16. left leg front kick step down with the left leg into a forward stance double middle punch, left hand first
17. turn 90° left, moving the left foot into a walking stance left arm low block right hand middle punch
18. step forward with the right foot into a walking stance right arm low block left hand middle punch
19. left leg front kick step down with the left leg into a walking stance left arm low block right hand middle punch
20. right leg front kick step down with the right leg into a walking stance right arm low block left hand middle punch kiyap!
